Well Crap

My daughter is evidence that Covid-19 messes with kids, too. She tested positive on August 21, 2020. She was 15 at the time. She struggles with Ankylosing Spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis. Her quarterly injections make her immunocompromised. She has been terribly anxious since the pandemic started … worrying endlessly about the virus and what it could do to her.

Thankfully, she fared well. She lost her taste and smell for about a week. She definitely felt like she had a cold or allergies. She felt the chest pressure of being short of breath. Within two weeks time she felt good, but she kept having lingering issues she attributed to her asthma.

This is about a month after her test. She’s in the local ER late at night gasping for air. Her oxygenation is good, lungs sound clear, but the aggravation of her asthma persists. Is this Covid related? Allergies? Just an asthma flare? My mind is racing and worrying … so few answers. Her next stop? A pulmonologist.
